Guardian Scholars: A Network for Success

The Guardian Scholars Program at UC Riverside provides a network of resources to students who are transitioning from the foster care system to the pursuit of higher education. Their stories – told primarily by the students themselves -- provide a very honest overview of foster care, the impact of the Guardian Scholars program, and a glimpse into the lives of these amazing students.

(NOTE: For more personal insight into the inspiring lives of a few of these students, please check out the videos below as well.)

Resilience

If there is one word that best characterizes our Guardian Scholars, it is resilience.  Foster youth overcome innumerable challenges to simply survive. In order to reach goals such as a college education, it takes an enormous amount of commitment, ambition, courage, and, of course, resilience.
